Our Meet the Makers series shines a light on the fantastic brands which we stock at Bike Club.

In this edition, we focus on the Basket Room who partner with remarkable artisans and networks of weaving cooperatives in Africa. In doing so, they offer a range of truly special hand-woven bike baskets which celebrate Northern Ghana’s abundant natural raw material and the age-old weaving skills of its people.

The brand was founded in 2014 by friends Camilla Sutton and Holly McMullen with the vision of bringing intricately crafted ethically produced East African crafts to the masses.

At its core, the brand focuses on sustainable style and ethical production with an ongoing commitment to fair trade. The baskets are predominantly crafted by women in turn giving them a reliable income.

The brand continues to expand as they continue to explore Africa in search of further weaving communities. In doing so, enabling women to continue plying their trade as their mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers have taught them to.
